At the end of May, in a park in Clichy-la-Garenne, France, 1600 papiermâché pandas were on display, representing the 1600 that are the last of their species in China.
I haven't been able to find out who made these but it must have been a huge job.

Fabulous! just as I'd discovered my alter ego in Kung Fu Panda, too . Except - oh heck, I feel a giant panda coming on (just when I thought I'd got the walrus was under control )....

I am very pleased to say that the designer of the Pandas (as well as of a lot of other things), M. Grangeon, is likely to open a gallery on this site in the very near future. I am sure you will give him a great welcome. We also hope to put up a short article on the making of them.

Thanks Sue. It has been great fun doing the research and I do thank the designer, Paulo Grangeon, who, once I found him, was most helpful.
If anyone wants to buy one of these pandas (which helps the World Wild Life Fund) or to buy one of the photographs, the links are at the end of the article.
If anyone wants to contact Paulo for a commission, I am happy to help.
