Looking for information on louise Vergette and her work. Can anyone help
Do you by any chance mean Louise Genest, the bookbinder? I couldn't find any listing for Louise Vergette.
Did you ever find an answer to your question? I came looking as well to see more work by Louise Vergette who had a piece photographed in Juliette Bawden's book.

Aside from a bronze park sculpture, the only web presence of Louise Vergette are from some 90's books; I surmise that her time was over before the Web blossomed.

I may just have a lead to her, which would suggest that her time is far from over. If I am right I hope to be able to add to this thread.

I loved Louise Vergette's work - yes, saw it in the Juliet Bawden book first, and it gave me the courage to attempt some of my more extreme ideas, however barking mad in scale or concept! I think she's still active but the last reference I saw to her was (I think) in connection with model-making / special effects for films & animation, rather than as an exhibiting artist.

Antoniag: "... however barking mad in scale or concept"
There is no such thing!

Hi Catperson - I know what you mean, but you may not realise quite how eccentric I can get; it did take a leap of faith to put them into practice, when at the time (15-20 years ago) there was very little really off-the-wall artwork around. I've only put the more sensible things on my gallery here - so far .....

Antonia, your work is BEAUTIFUL!
Okay, now let's see some of your 'eccentric' work!

Well, I am pleased to say that my searches have been successful. I have found Louise Vergette. She sounds absolutely delightful, has never seen this site but will be looking at it soon and (I'm crossing fingers etc. here) is likely to open a gallery.

Schmooze? It is not a term I am familiar with . . . My imagination is going wild!

That's great news David - well schmoozed indeed!
(Sue - thank you so much for the compliment, really made my day! and motivated me to find a way round the latest home pc crisis to retrieve some more recent work photos for the gallery).

Well, you may now have realised that Louise has posted a gallery - and very worthwhile it is too.
Success at last!

Wow I just checked out the galleries of both Louise and Antonia, and what great work by both artists. They are surprisingly similiar in some ways. I particularly like the Wall urns, and the Zebra mirror. I am toying with the idea of relief work and both of these inspire me. Thanks again, great work.

Lesley, you're very kind but Louise is way out of my league!! However it doesn't hurt to have a level to aspire to. As I think I said before, she was a great inspiration to me early on and it's fantastic to see her work in the gallery.
