I used my kenwood mixer for the pulp mashing and the bowl is now gone black/grey.
I have tried bleach and scrubbing until my elbow hurt.
Does anyone have a tip for removing the mess from the plastic bowl?

Ouch! Is this a mixer you use for food in your kitchen? I'm afraid you might be stuck. I'm guessing you used newspaper for your pulp and the ink stained it? I don't know that I would use it for food again. I know that some newspapers are using soy inks, but don't know that I would trust it.
Rubbing alcohol and hairspray are good for removing ballpoint ink, but don't know about newsprint. You may give it a try if you're determined to salvage the mixer.
I use old blenders purchased from yard sales and resale shops for mixing pulp, that way when they burn up from the heavy load of chopping newspapers, they are cheap to replace, and I don't have to worry about contaminating my kitchen blender.
I'm sorry to say you now may just have a really nice paper mache mixer

Newspaper ink is usually a combination of soy and oil/petroleum. Try some anti-grease cleaner that isn't toxic.
Plastic tends to be both absorbent and often has a lot of tiny scratches where stains will be embedded.
I suspect that you may have to replace the bowl.

Good job your hubby has a sense of humour. I hope he also enjoys all the black marks over his shirts etc???! Why use a bowl? If you're making pulp, a DIY drill with a mixer attachment and all your wet pulp in a bucket will be much better. I do about two gallons at a time, drain the pulp, squeeze into 'biscuits', let dry thoroughly in the sun, store and take out for use as needed. As I mentioned in past forum discussions, I can make a pulp that will roll down to 1mm thickness and dry strong.

David, I've heard of that before, with people recommending a paint mixer blade. So I got one, and it didn't work at all. The centrifical force effect just turned the contents into a tornado with the blade spinning in the middle.

LOL Small amounts....THATS what we all said...in the beginnig!
I would worry about burning out the motor on your nice mixer. I'm not familiar with the brand, but if it's a nice one, would hate to ruin it trying to mix heavy paper.
