Going to make a paper mache of a dolphin using a mylar balloon. Has anyone ever did this before? Will the paper mache "stick" to the mylar or does it need to be covered in masking tape first? Should I fill the balloon with air or try filling it with styrofoam "peanuts" first?
Thanks for any help you can give me. By the way, I am 13.
Hi Ariel,
Looks like noone else has covered a mylar balloon in papier mache! I have to admit that I have never tried it. Not being very familiar with this type of balloon I asked around. The advice I was given to pass on to you is to make sure that the balloon is fully inflated and tied very securely. Because of the metallic type surface, a release agent would be necessary to stop the papier mache sticking to it. For suitable release agents see:

Of course, you may not need to remove the balloon at all from the inside, in which case you won't need to use a release agent. Good luck with your dolphin...please come back and tell us how you get on with it.
