i intend to make a mask for halloween and am new to paper mache. i was wondering what paste stuff should i use and what kind of paper. the mask is going to be a deku mask from the legend of zelda majoras mask

I am no expert but I find PVA and water mix works really good as for paper you can use anything form ordinary newspaper to junk mail(no shiny stuff or plastic coat) even paper from old note book will work.

Yes regular White glue would be your best bet. Go easy on the water though. You are going to need at least 6 layers to make it strong enough. Since its a simple oval shape mask without a lot of detail, try layering over a balloon (as big as your face) and cutting it in half after it is dry. For the nose/snout thing, I would use a toilet paper or paper towel roll cut to the proper length and tape it to the mask, then cover in a layer of paper strips before painting. Good luck, you are going to have to hustle to get it done and dried to paint before Wednesday.

Put the piece in front of a fan to dry it faster.
