The article recently posted -- by Raul Aguilar -- was a great read. Many galleries snub papier mache artists considering it craft rather than art. Mr. Aguilar explained well the reasons for this puzzling enigma.
Working with paper and pulp is a magical experience for me. Despite the fact that many galleries have declined my work, there are others who DO see that magic. Perhaps mache is coming of age, as Mr. Aguilar hints in his article. At least, I hope so.

Just thought I'd add my agreement!
And a thankyou to Jackie for finding such an interesting article.
There does seem to be a tendancy for people to view all papier mache as craft.
Like all art forms there is a great variety of techniques and subject matter created using papier mache.
If you look through the galleries I think some peoples work would fall into the craft category and others into art.
Both are equally valid and each would have their own particular market or customer base.
For myself I try not to worry what 'lable' people put on my work. The important thing is keep on creating and being true to your own particular artistic vision.
Time to get back to work!
