I am coming to the end of a mache session and will take a break for a while so I can do the festivals that I have been making for. So I thought I would like to share some of the silly things that happen while I'm in mache mode.
Like.
Always putting the brush in my tea cup instead of the water jar.
Sticking the glue / paint end of the brush in my mouth.
Chasing the cat around because he's got paper stuck to his paws and he's running round the house doing the crazy chicken dance.
Gluing myself to my work pieces.
Gluing myself to door handles, bog chains, taps o.k everthing.
sticking my work pieces to the shelves.
moving the cats when my hands are still sticky they end up looking like punks and I end up looking like I'm wearing werewolf mitts.
Having no control on collecting every piece of rubbish that may passes my way.
So now I have some space for a little sanity to come back in my house I think I will go and find my family I think I left them downstairs next to a large stack of newspaper.

Substitute Child for cat and that is our house. The only other thing I have to prevent is the children turning themselves into hedgehogs with my dressmaking pins.

Yes, the cats do tend to 'investigate' more closely than they should.
Once, my cat was sitting quietly on the end of large worktable, watching me. I didn't realize that she had somehow picked up a piece of paper the size of my hand (with glue on it, naturally) on her tail, and as she sat there the glue was drying.
When she jumped down, she realized that this piece of paper was chasing her! She flew all over the house and she just couldn't get away from it. Finally, she ran into a closet, where I could grab her and remove the predatory, cat-chasing piece of paper.
Of course, that didn't stop her from getting onto the work table...
