I've never used paper mache other than maybe once or twice in elementary school 20 years ago.
I want to tackle a project I dreamed up a while ago and forgot about.
I remember a museum when i was a kid that had giant wooly mammoth tusks framing a doorway in an exhibit on fossils. I'd love to make one of my own. I figure paper mache is the way to go since it will be about 6 or 7 feet tall and would be too heavy in another material.
I'm thinking I can probably make a chicken wire frame, apply the mache and then sand it smooth before painting/sealing, but I want to know if there are any tips I should know before starting.
Thanks.

Just an unsupported thought: You might try rolling the chicken wire on the diagonal, to give yourself more leeway in forming the curves.
