Hello, I am new in the forum
I have been making figures from home made paper paste, but I would like to have an smoother finish for some of them, so I am looking for a recipe? or any advice? can I use something like plaster or glue? I am affraid that plaster will fall off after some time.
I will appreciate any advice, thanks

At the moment I am experimenting with pulp recipe that I got from the recipe section on this website (under tutorials-advanced recipes):
-1/2 roll white toilet paper, shredded
-1 tbls linseed oil (raw dries faster, boiled dries whiter)
-2 tbls wallpaper paste
-4 tbls white glue
-1 tbls bleach
Mix all ingredients and apply
I have found that I need to add extra white glue to this recipe to get a nicer consistency to work with. I put this pulp on over the top of an armature that has been covered with strip mache, and smooth it down with extra wallpaper paste. I find that smoothing it down with wallpaper paste is what helps to give that really smooth finish.
I am still experimenting at the moment, but I might try sanding it to get it even smoother still, and am also going to try putting the toilet paper through a coffee grinder to stop it being lumpy (and to save time).
The toilet paper mixture comes out really hard and I have been really impressed with the results. I will post pictures when I am done!
Hope this has helped!!

Try applying gesso and then sanding as your finishing layer.
