This papier mache 'Frida Kahlo' is full of the things the great Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo, loved in her lifetime. She is life-sized and placed on a base painted in the colors she used in her painting "Love Embrace of the Universe..." Additionally, she is wearing a replica of a pre-columbian necklace that is visible in many of her paintings, and in photographs of the artist. She is decorated in the Dia de Los Muertos style, since this was a holiday Frida enjoyed. The heart in her ribcage has a picture of Diego Rivera; her husband, and from that heart flow veins and arteries that turn into vines and leaves...Frida believed that we nourish the earth, and it nourishes us.

Hi Joni! This looks like such a cool sculpture. I wish the photo was better so I could see all the things you mentioned in your comments.
I am an artist in Wisconsin. I have been doing jewelry and other types of paper art for the past 30+ years. I have just started doing paper mache and am VERY excited and renewed as an artist about this NEW medium for me. I LOVE Frida Kahlo as an artist and think that your sculpture is a wonderful tribute to herart and her life.
Thank you for sharing.
Regards,
Leslie Ann Farrar
