Well, I imagine that dragons can probably digest things that would kill a human. In Dungeons & Dragons, the various species eat all sorts of weird things, even gem stones. Biologically speaking, there are real world organisms that acquire their toxicity by ingesting poisonous foodstuffs and building up the toxins in their body, so, your dragon getting poison bumps from mushrooms is actually plausible from a scientific standpoint.
