The cheesecake stands about twenty inches tall and has sixteen layers of yellow paint - yellow paint just doesn't cover very well and I don't know why. The mice were also a challenge - I guess because of their small size.
This piece actually sold before I had finished painting it - and I easily could have sold it six or more times during the three days it was exhibited.

Gee. Those mice are remarkable - and with character too. Nice one.

Outstanding piece!
I have also experienced that yellow paint tends to require more coats than other colors. It helps a lot of if you do a base coat of white before applying the yellow. I don't know what paper you're using, but the black text, etc. on newsprint tends to show through yellow paint quite easily.

Thanks David, Janneke and Mark!
Mark, I used a base coat of yellow ochre - maybe white would have been a better choice. Will try it next time.

I am always a white primer,
It is better for each color, the colors are more pure on a white background, especially acrylic paint

Thanks Janneke for the advice. I tend to use dark primer for the "depth" it gives - but white certainly makes good sense as you should get a true color, or as you put it, "more pure."

I always mix a little bit of white in my yellow paint,
also in blue .the paint is less transparent and you need less layers

Very original work...especially the skulls and the jewellery. I particularly like this piece though....quirky, fun and cute.
