To show a scene, tell a story,treat with so many elements to form a harmonious composition, you achieve all with great mastery. I was wondering what it was like to work with silver, is it a long process ?

Hi Annie. There are 2 ways to work with silver, I think you could try, and like to experiment.
most importante,if you sculpt a small piece in wax, bee´s wax or petroleum wax.it´s hard,but becomes maleable with the heat of your hands,when starting to work.This sculpture will last forever,after, you could look for na art foundry, or jewlery studio to cast this sculpture.I am 100% positive you will love the result.An other option,I haven´t tried it yet,simply because I can´t find this material to sell in Brazil. It´s called jewlery silver clay.
It´s a clay,mixed with silver powder. You can sculpt it, seems to be very good to work with.
After dried ,it´s burned in a kiln, leaving you with the silver sculpture.still another option,to sculpt in clay, make a silicone mold.with this mold,there are infinite possibilities.you can make some wax copies,to cast in bronze,silver,etc.you can use your own mold to make paper mache pieces, or resin pieces.having your mold as back up, so much can be experimented.working directly in wax has many advantages.never dries, you can change and remodel your work. to see molten metal poured in your sculpture is a magical experience.

Annie,I looked up the name,it´s called Metal Clay. there are some books about how to use it.
It´s real silver,I would very much like to try this material!
