Thanks so much! It just takes a crazy amount of time. The process is pretty much the same for a small piece as for a large one. I use all kinds of junk on the inside for the skeleton and build out from there.
No real feathers. Just paper. I use different weights of paper for different effects. For strength, I have used butcher block paper that someone was using instead of tablecloths at a party, and that heavy pink paper used for moving furniture (from when we moved into our house).

This is fantastic! Did you use some real feathers in the wings or did you just texture the papier mache like that? how long did it take?
