Hi Alison: I love the exuberance and color of your works. I also have questions for you if you care to respond.
Have you come up with a reasonable and satisfying formula for pricing your papier mache works?
How long did it take you to create the Lion Mirror?
I am not a well-known artist so have no "following" to market to at present. I sell my work in a local gallery, and given that papier mache is not a traditional art medium like oil paintings, etc., and that producing pieces takes quite a long time, effective pricing is challenging.
Re pricing, I don't have a formula it's quite abstract really...I think the best way is to think either 'what do I want for it', or what you would be prepared to pay for it yourself and then double it! If you have to pay commission to a gallery or tax take that into consideration too. As a test, you could offer work with a range of prices and see how people react to the expensive ones.
This does help; nice to know we're on the same page, so to speak. I do as you describe, and price according to "what do I want for it" with an added amount for gallery commission, etc.
I also have to say again how much I like your "Cat" plate with mirror chips.

Hi Scylla,
Thanks for taking the time to look at my work.

Hope this helps,
