I sculpted the top and base of this piece separately, then once they dried and had been sanded smooth, I connected them with a strong rod. I applied a few layers of gesso, then blended several colors of metallic acrylic paint to get the color I wanted. Finished with matte finish sealant.

Nice work. It is not easy to get this shaping in pure pulp.

Thanks! I find using the glue/water solution I use for the strips and in the pulp like ceramicists use clay and water "slip" helps get the shape I want. As the shape dries, I just rub it on with my fingers as I sculpt.
