Storing papier-maché glue

Hi, folks--

I just made a bigger batch than I need at the moment, but will need it tomorrow when my projects are dry. My glue is a variation of the glue recipe; I use cornstarch instead. Does anyone know if this will keep, covered, overnight without solidifying into gel?

Did you cook it, or did you just mix it with water?

I cooked it. Now it's the next day, and it's more gelatinous, but still fairly spreadable, so I'm thinking it's still good to use.

Re: Storing papier-maché glue

I mix my paste with a mixer just before I use it because it always get thick. In this way I don't have lumps. So maybe if you mix it before you use it it will make nice consistency.

Re: Storing papier-maché glue

I don't cook my glue. I just use wallpaper paste and water. I mix it up in a ziploc bag and just seal it in between uses.

It does get a little thicker, but I can always think it down with water again if needed and shaking the bag until it is incorporated.

Butterbee, if you ever try cornstarch, you have to cook it.

Re: Storing papier-maché glue

Thanks Sue, I'll definitely make a mental note in my head about that.

Do people just use the cornstarch instead of flour?
