newbie with question

Hi, after researching alot about paper mache, I am starting a sculpture project. The base of it is styrofoam of which i cut and molded it to shape and then I covered it with masking tape. Would this now be ready to layer with celluclay? What else should I be weary or aware of before this next step.

Thanks in advance for your responses. I could use all the tips I could get.

Re: newbie with question

It should be all right.  Probably.  But masking tape isn't water-resistant, is it?

Why not take a piece of castoff styrofoam, wrap it in some masking tape, then mix up some Celluclay and apply it, let it dry, see how it goes.  Is it sticking like you thought?  Should you forget the masking tape and apply it direct?  Should you cover the foam with paper-strip mache, then apply the Celluclay?

I would experiment a bit first -- it might save some time and effort.
