I have a wine chiller that looks like it is clay papier mache or something similar, it has nothing on its base to help identify it. Does anyone know how to identify papier mache pieces, many thanks.

The one I'm familiar with uses bits of newsprint soaked in a mixture of water and can be placed in molds when the desired consistency is achieved. The dried product is then removed from the mold and finish applied.

Is it the type that uses ice? If so, it probably isn't paper mache, given that waterproofing the material is so difficult. It may be some sort of composite or resin. Do you know how old it is?
