my hubby works at a store. there is tons of purple apple box deviders. they are just like egg cartons.
one time I tore them up and boiled the heck out of them. and solked them a few days. but they would not soften.
I did try the blender too. almost broke it.
is there any way at all to make them soften?
it drives me nuts.. there are so many of them. If I could figure out how to work that stuff I could make lots of stuff to sell. I am a artest.

They must be treated with something. I've seen some that were coated with wax, and I don't know how you would separate the wax from the fiber.
When you boiled them, did any kind of material (like wax) float to the top of the water?
My next guess would be that the fiber was soaked with silicone to deliberately MAKE it waterproof.
There are so many things that the manufacturers ruin by 'improving' them.
